What is Page Authority (PA)?

Page Authority (PA) is a score developed by Moz that predicts how well a specific page will rank on search engine result pages (SERP). Page Authority scores range from one to 100, with higher scores corresponding to a greater ability to rank. While Domain Authority (DA) measures the predictive ranking strength of entire domains, PA measures the strength of a single page.

Why Page Authority Matters

Search engines like Google rank web pages, not just websites. A website might have a high Domain Authority, but if a specific blog post has poor content and no internal or external links pointing to it, its Page Authority will be low, and it may struggle to rank. Conversely, a stellar piece of content on a smaller site can achieve a high PA if it attracts high-quality backlinks.

PA vs. DA: The Key Differences

  • Scope: DA predicts the ranking potential of the root domain (e.g., example.com), whereas PA predicts it for a specific URL (e.g., example.com/blog/post-1).
  • Fluctuation: PA fluctuates more frequently than DA because it is sensitive to link changes specific to that page.
  • Strategy: Improve DA by building the overall brand and backlink profile. Improve PA by building links directly to that specific page and optimizing internal linking structures.

How to Improve Page Authority?

Since PA is calculated based on data from the web index (mostly link counts), the best way to influence it is to improve your link profile.

  • Get External Links: Create high-quality content that other sites want to link to.
  • Internal Linking: Link to your important pages from other high-authority pages on your own site (e.g., from the Homepage).
  • Refresh Content: Keep the page updated to maintain its relevance and authority signals.

Disclaimer: This tool utilizes a deterministic simulation algorithm to generate the Page Authority (PA) and related metrics shown above. Due to browser security restrictions (CORS) and the requirement for paid API subscriptions, client-side tools cannot directly query Moz's live database. The data presented here mimics realistic scoring logic based on the specific URL structure and domain reputation for educational purposes.
