Mastering 360 Video Reframing in the Browser

The world of Virtual Reality and 360-degree video captures everything around you, but sharing that content on standard screens often requires "Reframing"—the process of converting spherical footage into a standard flat video by directing the camera after the fact. Our 360° Studio puts this power in your hands without requiring expensive desktop software or cloud processing.

How to Use the Editor

• 1. Import Footage: Drag and drop any standard equirectangular 360 video file (MP4 or WebM) into the editor. The tool processes the video locally using your graphics card.
• 2. Navigate the Sphere: Click and drag on the video preview to look around. You are now the camera operator. Use the scroll wheel or the FOV slider to zoom in and out, creating dynamic wide shots or tight close-ups.
• 3. Color Grade: Use the built-in filters to correct exposure, adjust contrast, or boost saturation. These effects are applied in real-time using WebGL shaders.
• 4. Reframe & Record: This is the magic step. Press the "Reframe Rec" button. The video will start playing. As it plays, move the camera to follow the action. The tool records exactly what you see in the viewport. When you stop, a standard `.webm` video file will be generated and downloaded, containing your directed camera moves.

Technical Overview

This tool is built on raw WebGL, bypassing heavy libraries to ensure fast load times and privacy. It maps your video onto a mathematically generated 3D sphere. The "Reframing" capability utilizes the browser's MediaStream and MediaRecorder APIs, capturing the canvas output frame-by-frame. This means the quality of your export depends on your screen resolution—maximize your browser window for the best results!
